MEMORY DOG EVALUATES, ACQUIRES AND TRAINS SERVICE, THERAPY AND COMPANION DOGS TO WORK WITH THOSE WITH ALZHEIMER’S AND OTHERS WITH DEMENTIA OR SIMILAR CHALLENGES.

A 21ST CENTURY CHALLENGE

It is estimated that one in three people over 65 will develop dementia sometime during their life. Which means that it is likely that you will face the challenge of creating a safe, positive and healthy environment for a loved one. This is the challenging quality of life issue we are all facing.

What is dementia? It’s the term for a set of symptoms that can include loss of memory, mood changes and problems communicating and reasoning. There is currently no cure and while medications and other interventions can ease the symptoms somewhat, the condition is progressive.

But the good news is that the most severe symptoms are not immediate; we do not need to stand helplessly by.  Memory Dog can help make the journey more positive and life affirming. By establishing routine behaviors in the early stages we aim to support our clients through the various stages of dementia.

WHAT WE DO

Memory Dog evaluates, acquires and trains service, therapy and companion dogs to work with those with Alzheimer’s and others with dementia or similar challenges.

We will provide dogs to clients in both private homes and supported living communities.

Training will be provided to family and caregivers in-home, and to clients and staff in senior living communities.

We will work with the family and caregivers to teach them how to incorporate the dog into daily activities.
